The Navy is always on the lookout for personnel wanting to re-enlist with us. Providing there are positions at the correct rank and trade this is a fairly quick and straightforward process.
Any additional or ‘top-up’ training that might be needed will be conducted on a case by case basis, and an offer of service can be formulated after this.
The application process
The first step is to re-enlistment is to register your interest online. 
Register your interest.
We will then assess your potential suitability for re-employment by the Royal New Zealand Navy. We will ask you to send us a full CV containing information on your military career, skills, experience and qualifications and specific information on your civilian career since leaving. We will also ask for a covering letter explaining why you wish to rejoin.
Once we receive this information it will be screened for suitability by our recruitment team and our career management team. If your skills and experience are potentially suitable, and we have vacancies, you will be invited to commence the full selection process where you will be required to:
- Complete a full online application form
- Complete a medical questionnaire
- Send us a range of supporting documentation
The approval process
On completion of an interview, a report will be sent to our career management team for final assessment. If you are deemed suitable for employment and we have suitable vacancies you will be sent an Offer Of Service. The Offer will include the specific details of your employment and is subject on you:
a. Passing a physical medical examination; and
b. Gaining necessary NZ security clearances.
Once you have met all the required criteria you will be eligible to be enlisted into the Royal New Zealand Navy.
