There is a continual need to update and modify training to reflect the changes to trades within the Navy that arise from new technology, equipment and tactics. You may be employed to analyse these changes and implement new training.
If you are posted to the Training Technology School, you will be responsible for training technically qualified officers and ratings to instruct courses at the various schools within the Navy’s training establishment.
If you fill the role of the Naval Qualifications Officer, you will assume responsibility for the co-ordination of Navy courses and Unit Standards to ensure that Navy personnel receive recognised qualifications wherever possible.
After the first five years of your engagement you can expect to be more widely employed in a variety of posts. Opportunities may also arise for posts within the wider New Zealand Defence Force.
As an Education Officer you will be encouraged to undertake additional studies in your area of professional interest. Tuition fees for courses that are job-related will be paid by the Navy.
