Technical Trades

The technical trades are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ship’s machinery, weapons and communication systems. Are you interested in engineering, mechanics or electrical systems?

The trades keep the vast range of equipment and systems onboard functioning. This includes the maintenance, repair and upgrade of all systems. They are divided into two branches.

The Marine Engineering branch which is responsible for the float and move items such as the propulsion systems, and the Weapons Engineering branch which is responsible for the maintenance, repair and upgrade of the fight function.

Within these branches the Navy has two career streams; Officers and Sailors. Officers have a leadership and managerial role, and Sailors have hands on expertise in their specialty; with the opportunity to advance to Officer level.
